This week's learning theory, constructionist, describes how students who build their knowledge through artifacts tend to retain their learning.  When students form a hypothesis about what learning is about to take place,it provides them a since of accountability in discovering and testing the different outcomes to prove or disprove their hypothesis. Technology plays a vital role in supporting this theory.  Through the enhancement of technology like spreadsheets and gaming systems, students engage in their learning to overcome challenges a traditional methods of teaching endure.

  1. Jennifer,
I enjoyed your short, concise post. I do believe that you are quite right in that when students are forming a hypothesis on what they will be learning, they do have more of a sense of accountability in their education. They learn that they are not always right in their assumptions and learn how to take failure in stride and instead of letting it derail them, and, most importantly, they learn how to adapt and change, especially if they have to keep a running dialog, like a weblog.
